Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Eilat Made Safaris website and the booking of all safari tours, transportation services, and travel packages offered by us. By accessing our website or confirming a booking, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Definitions
- "Company," "we," "us," "our": Eilat Made Safaris, a Uganda-based tour operator.
- "Client," "you," "your": The individual or group making a booking or using our services.
- "Safari Package": Any tour, trek, transfer, accommodation, or travel service booked through us.
- "Permit": Official authorization issued by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) or relevant body for activities including gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking.
2. Website Use
By using this website, you agree to:
- Not use the site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, servers, or data.
- Not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, or exploit any portion of the website content without express written permission from Eilat Made Safaris.

3. Bookings and Reservations
All safari bookings are subject to availability at the time of confirmation. A booking is considered confirmed only when:
- You have received written confirmation from Eilat Made Safaris via email or WhatsApp.
- The required deposit (as specified in your quotation) has been received and acknowledged.
Prices quoted are valid for 14 days from the date of quotation unless otherwise stated. Prices may be subject to change due to factors beyond our control, including but not limited to government tax increases, park fee revisions, or fuel surcharges.
4. Gorilla and Chimpanzee Permits
Gorilla trekking permits in Uganda cost approximately $700 USD per person per trek (subject to change by the Uganda Wildlife Authority). Gorilla permits in Rwanda cost approximately $1,500 USD per person. Chimpanzee tracking permits in Kibale Forest cost approximately $200 USD per person. These permits are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable once purchased from the issuing authority. We strongly recommend booking permits at least 3–6 months in advance, especially for peak season travel (June–September, December–February).
5. Payments
Payment terms will be clearly stated in your booking confirmation. We accept payment via bank transfer, mobile money (for regional clients), and other methods as agreed upon at the time of booking. All payments must be made in the currency specified in your invoice.
6. Safari Package Inclusions and Exclusions
Each safari package quotation will clearly outline what is included and excluded. Generally:
Typically Included: Accommodation as specified, meals as indicated, park entrance fees, activity permits (gorilla/chimpanzee where applicable), ground transportation in a 4x4 safari vehicle, services of a professional English-speaking driver-guide, and bottled water during game drives.
Typically Excluded: International flights, visa fees, travel insurance, personal expenses (laundry, beverages, tips), optional activities not specified in the itinerary, and any items of a personal nature.
7. Travel Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all clients booking safaris with Eilat Made Safaris. Your insurance must cover medical emergencies, emergency evacuation, trip cancellation, lost luggage, and personal liability. Proof of insurance may be requested before your departure. We are not liable for any costs arising from your failure to obtain adequate insurance coverage.
8. Client Responsibilities
As our client, you are responsible for:
- Ensuring your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date from East Africa.
- Obtaining the appropriate visa(s) for Uganda and any other East African countries on your itinerary. We can provide guidance on the East African Tourist Visa application process.
- Consulting with your healthcare provider regarding recommended vaccinations (including Yellow Fever, which requires a valid certificate for entry into Uganda).
- Informing us of any medical conditions, dietary requirements, or accessibility needs at the time of booking.
- Arriving at designated pick-up points on time. We are not responsible for missed activities due to client delays.
9. Liability and Force Majeure
Eilat Made Safaris acts as an agent for various independent suppliers (lodges, transport providers, park authorities). While we exercise the utmost care in selecting our partners, we are not liable for any injury, damage, loss, delay, or irregularity arising from the actions of these third-party providers.
We are not liable for circumstances beyond our reasonable control ("force majeure"), including but not limited to: natural disasters, civil unrest, terrorism, pandemics, border closures, flight cancellations, or extreme weather events. In such cases, we will make every reasonable effort to reschedule or offer alternative arrangements.
Wildlife viewing is inherently unpredictable. We do not guarantee sightings of any specific animal, including gorillas — though our experienced guides maximize your chances of extraordinary encounters.
10. Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms or your safari booking shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If resolution cannot be reached, the matter shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Uganda.
11. Amendments
We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. The version published on this page at the time of your booking shall apply to your safari. Continued use of our website constitutes acceptance of the current terms.

🦍 Gorilla Trekking
What is the best time for gorilla trekking in Uganda?
Gorilla trekking is excellent year-round, but the optimal periods are during Uganda's dry seasons — June through September and December through February. During these months, forest trails are less muddy and easier to navigate, and the overall trekking experience is more comfortable. However, permits are available year-round, and the rainy seasons (March–May, October–November) offer lush green scenery and fewer visitors.
How much does a gorilla permit cost?
A gorilla trekking permit in Uganda costs $700 USD per person per trek (subject to change by the Uganda Wildlife Authority). In Rwanda, permits are $1,500 USD per person. Permits are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable once purchased. We strongly advise booking your permit 3–6 months in advance, particularly for peak season dates.
What fitness level is required for gorilla trekking?
Gorilla trekking requires a moderate to good level of physical fitness. Treks can last anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family on that particular day. The terrain in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is steep and often muddy. You should be comfortable walking on uneven ground at altitude. Porters are available for hire at the trailhead to assist with carrying your daypack and providing physical support if needed.
Are there age restrictions for gorilla trekking?
Yes. The minimum age for gorilla trekking in both Uganda and Rwanda is 15 years old. This regulation is strictly enforced by park authorities, and permits will not be issued to anyone under this age. There is no official upper age limit, provided you are in reasonably good health and fitness.
What should I wear and bring for a gorilla trek?
We recommend: sturdy waterproof hiking boots (essential), long trousers and a long-sleeved shirt (for protection against vegetation), a rain jacket, gardening-style gloves (for gripping vegetation), a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, at least 2 liters of water, packed lunch, and a waterproof daypack. A walking stick is provided at the trailhead, and gaiters can be useful in muddy conditions.

Which national parks are best for seeing the Big Five?
For the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), we recommend Murchison Falls National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park for lions, leopards, elephants, and buffalo. For rhino tracking, the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you can see rhinos in the wild on a guided walking safari.
What type of vehicle do you use for safaris?
We use specially modified 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers and safari vans with pop-up roofs for optimal game viewing and photography. All vehicles are well-maintained, fully insured, and equipped with coolers for drinking water, charging ports, and binoculars. Window seats are guaranteed for every guest.
What does a typical day on safari look like?
A typical safari day begins with an early morning game drive (around 6:30 AM) when wildlife is most active. You return to your lodge for a late breakfast and relaxation during the midday heat. After lunch, an afternoon game drive or boat cruise departs around 3:30 PM and continues until sunset. Evenings are spent at the lodge enjoying dinner and sharing stories around the campfire.
What is the tipping guideline for safari guides?
Tipping is not mandatory but is greatly appreciated as a gesture of satisfaction. As a general guideline: $10–15 USD per person per day for your driver-guide, and $5–10 USD per person per day for lodge staff (often pooled). For porters during gorilla trekking, $10–15 USD is customary.

Absolutely. Every safari we design is tailored to your interests, budget, and travel style. Whether you want to combine gorilla trekking with a savannah safari, add a chimpanzee tracking extension, include a relaxing stay in Zanzibar, or create a multi-country East African circuit — we will build the perfect itinerary for you.

Do I need a visa to visit Uganda?
Most visitors require a visa to enter Uganda. You can apply online through the Uganda e-Visa portal. We also recommend the East African Tourist Visa ($100 USD), which allows multiple entries into Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya for up to 90 days — excellent value for multi-country itineraries.
What vaccinations do I need for Uganda?
A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry into Uganda. Additional recommended vaccinations include Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Tetanus, and Meningitis. Malaria is present in Uganda, so we strongly advise taking anti-malarial medication and using insect repellent. Always consult your travel clinic or healthcare provider at least 4–6 weeks before departure.
Is Uganda safe for tourists?
